Meypar Larcomar 04

Larcomar

Larcomar is one of the most iconic shopping centres in Lima. Covering an area of 25,000 square metres, it boasts a prime location with views of the Pacific Ocean. Since 2010, it has been operated by Parque Arauco, a Chilean real estate company primarily focused on managing shopping centres in Chile, Peru and Colombia.

Original Situation

  • The parking control system was based on magnetic stripe technology. With a turnover of up to 8,000 vehicles daily, the automatic pay stations only had a module for cash payments.
  • Customers wishing to pay by credit card, obtain a receipt or take advantage of discounts were forced to use one of the seven manual pay stations, which the operator needed to manage the demand. Nevertheless, these often had long queues, leading to customer dissatisfaction.
  • Given the large size of the car park, with eight levels, it was quite difficult to locate a vehicle if somebody had forgotten where they parked it.
  • Additionally, it was challenging for the operator to obtain system information for combining with data from other car parks they managed.

Implemented Solution

  • Meypar replaced the previous solution with a parking control system based on QR barcode technology.
  • The payment areas now feature 10 automatic pay stations equipped with modules for credit card payments and the capability to issue electronic receipts, in addition to cash payments.
  • The issue of electronic receipts at the pay stations is integrated with SUNAT (National Customs and Tax Administration Authority), the unique digital platform for managing the taxes of the Peruvian National Government.
  • The parking control system is integrated with Parque Arauco’s own app for paying for parking through it.
  • Access control is equipped with cameras for reading and recognising number plates, and operates with a ticketless solution for entry, payment and exit using number plate identification.
  • The car park features a newly installed guidance system with cameras.
  • Customers apply parking fee discounts independently by entering their number plate and scanning a QR code printed on their purchase receipts.

Results Achieved

  • Following the implementation of the new system, the customer satisfaction index (CSAT) increased from 14 to 65 points. This improvement makes for a better user experience, it allows payment for parking with a credit card and other methods, the obtaining of an electronic receipt or being able to apply a discount at any of the automatic pay stations. Additionally, they can pay for their parking through the Larcomar app without needing to visit the pay stations.
  • With the implementation of ticketless operations and the elimination of the need to collect or present printed tickets, access is smoother, thus enabling customers to spend more time on leisure and shopping.
  • As a feature of the integrated guidance system with the parking control system, customers can easily locate their vehicle using the Find Your Car solution.
  • The operator optimises the management of the team attending the car park as the manual pay stations do not have to be staffed continuously.
  • It also significantly reduces consumable and maintenance costs by eliminating the need to issue tickets.
  • With the new control system, the application of discounts is automated reliably and unattended.
  • The parking control system is synchronised with Nexus, Meypar’s centralised management platform; this facilitates remote monitoring of the facility and access to real-time, up-to-date information.
